The Night of Terror by Ava and Olivia

Chapter 1

Abby, who was twenty-four, sat watching the news. All of a sudden, the words ‘Urgent News’ popped up on the screen. This surprised Abby, as nothing ever happened in her small town. Apparently, Blackbush Avenue was making headlines: £500 for anyone who was prepared to spend the night here!

She jumped in shock as she remembered the name ‘Blackbush Avenue’. An old citizen used to live there, but he disappeared. That was years ago. She needed that money for her college debt. So, the next day, she arrived at Blackbush Avenue.

Chapter 2

The outside was all worn out and on the swampy patch of grass, there was a memorial statue of the old groundskeeper who used to live there but also disappeared. The statue was vandalised with rude pictures drawn on it. Abby remembered how the mansion used to look with its majestic, tall gates and its sturdy, bricked wall which was now all cracked and covered in vines.

Before stepping in, Abby already had a bad feeling about this place. Luckily, she knew that the rumours weren’t true. Or were they?

When she entered, dust filled her lungs and a cold breeze shimmied up her spine. The place looked very grand with a golden chandelier that was covered in a blanket of cobwebs. She saw something that was very  paranormal: a woman with a face as white as the moon appeared on the balcony. For some reason, she just walked past her as if she wasn’t there.

Abby arrived at the grand bedroom that had massive dust clouds that covered one third of the room. There was a red couch in the corner that looked as if a rodent had chewed through it. There was a rug in the middle of the room that had been patched up and stank terribly.

She jumped onto her four poster bed that had a blood-red thin duvet; the bed creaked every time she moved. She got under the duvet and she felt a random lump. Abby jumped out of the cover in horror: what was it? Cautiously, she pulled the covers. Underneath was a crusty book. This was not what she was expecting: the book was leather and looked ancient. She wiped the thick dust off of the crumpled book. The title read ‘The Backstory of Blackbush Avenue’.

Chapter 3

She opened the book, her hands trembling. What was on this page amazed her and shocked her at the same time.

The clown!

The clown was responsible for all the disappearances that had happened here. Blackbush Avenue was haunted by the ghosts of Mr Brown (the old citizen) and his family. The clown’s name was Clutsy. He had been the entertainment for the Browns until he went mad. Nobody knew what had happened to him. Ever since, people had mysteriously disappeared and left no trace.

Chapter 4

A loud bang came from downstairs. Abby felt fear rise within her. What was it? Abby couldn’t resist; she had to go and investigate. She quietly crept down the creaky stairs one by one, not knowing what would lurk around each corner. In front of her stood the pale-faced woman that she had seen on the balcony. Now, Abby realised she was a ghost!

Abby sprinted. She didn’t know where she was going, but she ran. Clutsy appeared in front of her and then disappeared.

The words M-I-S-S-I-N-G swam around her head on repeat.  She wished for this all to be a dream, so she closed her eyes and then reopened them. Nope, not a dream! Clutsy kept appearing and disappearing behind her.

A memory came back to her very blankly. She remembered the news agency. She wanted to go there and ask why they put that advert on.

Hurriedly, she ran to where the agency was. As she opened the door, no heads turned to see who it was, they just kept on working. Abby went to see the man in charge. As she spoke, the man didn’t respond or even acknowledge her. Eventually, she gave up and walked out. As she walked she noticed a yellow flyer. The flyer read:

MISSING!

Abby Muiher

Please contact 07_________ if you have seen this girl.

She read the flyer in disbelief, she was right here. Wasn’t she?

Chapter 5

Abby had had enough she was going to her house- when she arrived she saw policemen putting up tape around her house. The tape read: crime scene.

“Sir,” she said.

“Come here, child,” said an ominous voice from behind her.’

A man with a hooded cloak stood behind her. The man put his hood down and the man’s face made her blood freeze. The man was old Mr. Brown who disappeared years ago.

“You can see me?” said Abby.

“Yes, my dear,” said Mr Brown softly. “And only me and my family. Come join our gang. We are called The Missing.”

With that, they walked away with a mysterious looking figure lurking in the shadows. Mr Brown explained everything that had happened to Clutsy – about how he went mad.

THE END

Written by Olivia King and Ava Beadle.

‘How did Clutsy go mad?’ you might say.

In the old mansion, people started breaking into the house and Clutsy did not like that, as he thought it should just be his family’s house. Eventually, he gave up and went crazy, harnessing the power to make people disappear and hides all of the evidence of him being there. So, there you go – there’s the explanation.

Now, it really is THE END!
